Rudman Winchell Welcomes Joy A. Trueworthy to the firm

Rudman Winchell, Counselors at Law in Bangor, Maine is pleased to announce that attorney Joy A. Trueworthy is joining the firm. Joy will work primarily with Attorney Jane Skelton at Maine Elder Law Firm, an affiliate of Rudman Winchell located in Bangor. "I am excited to continue my career serving clients in the greater Bangor area at Rudman Winchell," says Joy Trueworthy. "As an associate with Maine Elder Law Firm practice, I will be able to offer clients specialized expertise as well as access to the broad resources of Rudman Winchell as a whole." Joy A. Trueworthy grew up in Scarborough and Portland, Maine. She graduated from Smith College in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and women's studies, after being named to the Dean's List during each of her four years. Joy received a law degree from the Rutgers University School of Law-Newark in 2009. During law school, she served as a managing editor of the Rutgers Law Review, which selected her note for publication. Upon graduation, Joy was awarded an Eric R. Neisser Pro Bono award for her work with the law school's Domestic Violence Advocacy Project. Following law school, Joy served as a law clerk for the Honorable Andrew M. Mead of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. Joy was especially excited to return to Maine, as she is a thirteenth generation Mainer. After practicing for four years at another law firm in Bangor, Joy joined Rudman Winchell in 2014 to focus her practice on elder law matters. She also serves as a guardian ad litem for children in child protection cases. Joy is a member of the Maine State Bar Association, the Penobscot County Bar Association, and the Maine Guardian ad Litem Institute, and she serves as the secretary of the John Waldo Ballou Inn of Court. Joy represented the New Lawyers Section of the Maine State Bar Association as the New Lawyers Governor on the MSBA's Board of Governors for 2012 and 2013. She received Certificates of Commendation in 2012, 2013, and 2014 for her pro bono service to low-income Mainers through the Maine Supreme Judicial Court's Katahdin Counsel Recognition Program.
