Rachel M. Trafton started with the Maine Elder Law Firm in 2016 as a law school extern. Her practice focuses primarily on estate planning and elder law including proactive asset protection planning, crisis MaineCare planning and applications, guardianships and conservatorships, probate administration, and special needs planning. Rachel currently serves as the Chair-Elect of and on the legislative committee for the Elder Law Section of the Maine State Bar Association. She is a member of the Penobscot County Bar Association, the John Waldo Ballou Inn of Court, as well as ElderCounsel and WealthCounsel. Rachel volunteers as a committee member for the Eastern Maine Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
Rachel graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern Maine with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 2013. Rachel attended the University of Maine School of Law where she was the executive editor of the Ocean and Coastal Law Journal and an officer of the Women’s Law Association.
Rachel was raised and continues to live in Kenduskeag with her husband, Jon, and their dog, Duke. They like to be outside year-round, hiking, four-wheeling, ice-skating, and snowmobiling.
