R achel M. Trafton is an attorney in Rudman Winchell’s Maine Elder Law Firm office. Rachel started at Maine Elder Law Firm as a student extern in 2016. Her practice focuses primarily on estate planning and elder law including asset protection planning, MaineCare planning and applications, guardianships and conservatorships, probate administration, and special needs planning.

Rachel currently serves on the board for the Elder Law Section of the Maine State Bar Association. She is a member of the Penobscot County Bar Association, the John Waldo Ballou Inn of Court, as well as ElderCounsel and WealthCounsel. Rachel also serves as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) guardian ad litem for children in child protection cases.

Rachel was born and raised in Maine. She graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, graduating magna cum laude in 2013. While at USM, Rachel played four years of division III field hockey. Rachel attended the University of Maine School of Law, graduating magna cum laude in 2016. While in law school, she was the executive editor of the Ocean and Coastal Law Journal and an officer of the Women’s Law Association.

Rachel is a new resident of Kenduskeag with her husband, Jon, and their dog, Duke. They like to be outside year-round: hiking, four wheeling, ice skating, and snowmobiling.
